What does President Barack Obama eat? An official White House Flickr photostream was recently released and it includes a few shots of food that is available for President Barack Obama and the White House Staff. Cheese and Crackers with Carrots and Pear Slices
Tortilla Chips with Guacamole and Salsa with Something Fried
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have lunch. I can’t make out what the fried food is, but I assume it’s Mexican as well. Condiments appear to be mayo and ketchup in little dishes. Any ideas as to what the fried food could be? Please leave a comment.
Salmon, Chocolate Mousse with Whipped Cream and Strawberries, and Something that Looks like Bread Sticks
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and President Obama have a St. Patrick’s Day lunch. The dish in front of Obama appears to be salmon. I can’t figure out what the waiter is offering Obama though. Whatever it is, Obama seems to be passing up the offer. Could it be a batch of cheese breadsticks? If you have any idea please post a comment.
Box of Chocolate-Covered Macadamia Nuts
President Barack Obama reads a newspaper in the Outer Oval Office. On the desk in front of the flowers is a box of Hawaiian Host Chocolate Macadamias direct from his home state of Hawaii.
Canadian Beavertail Pastry and Sugar Cookies
President Obama purchased a Canadian hot pastry called a Beavertail at Hooker’s Beavertails on George Street in Ottawa’s ByWard Market. A beavertail is a patty of wholewheat dough stretched into the shape of a beaver’s tail, and then float-cooked in canola oil. At a Canadian Embassy party marking Obama’s Inauguration, they named the beavertail the Obamatail and served it with cinnamon and sugar, along with a whipped-cream “O” topped with chocolate sauce and a splash of maple. While at the bakery he picked up maple leaf-shaped sugar cookies with red-and-white icing for his daughters. For more information on his visit to the bakery, Click Here .
Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza
White House staff devour some Chicago-style deep dish pizza. No fancy presentation here, with the pizza being served right out of the boxes atop newspapers spread out across a conference table.
Orange and Cranberry Juice
Some kind of brownie or chocolate cake with what appears to be a raspberry, cherry, or strawberry sauce, topped with a sheet of something with chocolate and a crispy element. The wing-like crispy element could be a type of caramel waffle cone. If anyone has a better guess, please leave a comment.
