  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 4 chopped large button mushrooms
  • 1 minced onion
  • 1/2 cup corn flake crumbs
  • 1 egg - beaten
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup shredded Havarti cheese or cheddar or colby-jack
  • 1-1/2 lbs. extra lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Step 1

Fry bacon. After frying the bacon, set it aside to dry. Paper towels work good for this, or simply hang it by clothespins in front of a fan. Remember to dispose of your grease properly.

Step 2

Chop up the onions.

Step 3

Gather your mushrooms:

Step 4

You then saute the mushrooms.

Step 5

Beat one egg.

Step 6

The breadcrumbs:

Step 7

Combine the crumbs (recipe calls for Corn Flake crumbs) Evaporated Milk, crumbled bacon, cheese, and onion/mushroom mix into a big bowl. This forms the loaf.

Step 8

Retrieve your meat.

Step 9

And combine the meat with everything else in the bowl.

Step 10

The finished product. Like most food, it will taste better than it looks. Combine into a loaf pan. If you're like me, you probably don't have a loaf pan sitting around, so you can go to the dollar store and buy a disposable one. Ready for the oven which should be set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 11

After it's cooked for about an hour or until cooked through, take it out and sprinkle some cheese on top:

Step 12

This is where the Parmesan called for in the original recipe comes in, but I'm tossing some more Colby Jack on top. Another 5 in the oven gets you: All done.
