Ingredients
- 3lbs ground beef
- 1 jar of sliced mushrooms (size of jar depends on how much you like mushrooms)
- 1 egg
- 1 onion
- salt and pepper - to taste
- Garlic powder - to taste
- Mustard powder - to taste
- 1 8oz block of Swiss cheese
- 2tbsp A1 sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire
- 1c bread crumbs
- 2tbs butter
- Large Hamburger Buns
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Combine the ground beef, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, mustard powder, A1, Worcestershire, and bread crumbs. The nacho cheese looking stuff is optional, it's something called 'Zesty Burger Sauce' and is pretty much Thousand Island with pickle relish.
Step 5
Time to get your hands dirty, squish it all together. If it doesn't hold its shape, or is too wet, add more bread crumbs.
Step 6
Step 7
then cut it into patties with a cup (or just use your hands). NOTE: Two of these patties will make a whole burger.
Step 8
Do this until you have no more meat left. If you have too little meat left to make another pair of patties, cook it anyway and feed it to your dog.
Step 9
Form the burgers:
Take a patty and place Swiss and mushrooms on top of it. NOTE: Set some mushrooms and Swiss aside for the burger topping.Step 10
Step 11
Seal the edges of the burger with your fingers, then roll the burger into a ball while keeping the insides, well, on the inside. This may take a little practice.
IT'S HUGE... Flatten the ball some to form a big patty.Step 12
Repeat this step until all of the smaller patties have been turned into MONSTER BURGERS. Note the small burger for our dog.
Step 13
Step 14
Add onions and mushrooms, then saute over medium heat until onions are soft and clear.
Step 15
Step 16
Step 17
Throw those monstas on the grill and let them cook for maybe 5-7 minutes on each side. Our grill was really hot, so we only left these on for about 5 minutes total.
Step 18
Step 19
Serve.

I tried these tonight and they were pretty yummy. However, my ‘gooey cheese, onion, mushroom’ mixture wasn’t nice and smooth gooey… it was rubbery. How to fix that? I also recommend sauteing the mushrooms that go inside the burgers too. I didn’t care for the raw-like mushroom in the middle.
